Video of Emily's First Week

I put together this little video of Emily's first week of life.

I am not sure it is working, so you can also see it at the following site... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1100381117136002149
I will have to check in with my sister Amy, who is currently my IT support, to try to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Here are more photos from Emily's first week.

Emily Ann Hales was born Monday July 23, 2007 at 5:23 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces, was 19.5 inches long, and has more hair than I have ever seen on an infant :-) She is healthy and very strong. Right now she spends most of her time sleeping, but is a good eater too. Eating was a little tricky at first, but with the help of nurses and dad keeping her awake we seem to have caught on. Emily has an amazingly sweet disposition and rarely cries (I'm not sure the not crying thing will last, but we are enjoying it for now). During her first week of life we have mostly been enjoying time as a newly expanded family at the hospital and at home, but we also made a trip to the doctor and to Grandma's house. Ryan and I still cannot believe what an amazing miracle she is. Ryan is such a good dad. He has decided that he is going to order a bunch of books for her so that he can spend time reading and bonding :-)

It is now a week until I am being induced. Ready or not, our baby is coming. Fortunately I have the week off work, which has given be time to work on the nursery, work on my house, check the mail (typically we only do that once a month, because nothing good ever comes in the mail), learn about digital scrapbooking, and make some posts to this blog. I finally downloaded the last 7 months worth of photos from my camera, so I am posting the best here. The photos above are from my baby shower that was hosted by my mom. One of the games involved melting candy bars in diapers and then guessing what they were. It was surprisingly gross :-) We also guessed the baby food (no tasting or smelling was required), had lunch, and opened gifts. It was awesome to see old and new friends and family.
