Baby Clothes Are Fun!

So I am not a giant clothes shopper, given shopping preferences I would rather go to Lowe's or Tai Pan Trading to get something new for my house...Until Emily came along. Shopping for baby clothes is super fun. I think it is because 1. I don't have to try them on, 2. Everything fits, or it will fit eventually, 3. They are pink and purple, 4. You can get a pair of pants for less than $50.

Emily has a much larger wardrobe than I do this is primarily because I like to shop and so do her two aunts who have baby girls just older than Emily. Rashell and Staci have been big contributors to Emily's wardrobe. The photo below is Emily in my favorite outfit so far. Ryan picked out the pants.

My dad says that the headbands are actually for me, not for Emily. He is probaby right, but you have to admit that she is super cute in them.

Time Flies When Your Having Fun

Below are photos from Emily's first "photo shoot." Actually it was just me and my mom with a camera, a white sheet, and a baby that was wondering why she was being tortured :-)

This week Emily is going to be one month old! She is doing really well and growing so fast, it seems even her hair is getting longer. She gained two pounds in the last two weeks and is really starting to fill out. She has the most mellow temperament and rarely cries. When she is unhappy she just grunts and breathes fast. It is actually kind of cute.

My best friend Kate got married a couple of weeks ago and we had the reception at my mom's house, while we were getting everything ready my dad just sat and held her for about 6 hours. She was happy to just hang out, and my dad was happy to be holding a baby that wasn't scared of him :-)

At night she does pretty well she lets me sleep for about three hours at a time, but once she is up, there is no going back to bed for at least an hour.

Right now I am not working and I have to admit that I am pretty happy about it. It is nice to have my life revolve around feeding a baby, cleaning my house and hanging out with my mom, rather than meetings about traffic and endangered species. I am going to go back to work part time in a couple of weeks, and I am sure that I will enjoy it, but I am really glad I don't have to go back full time.

My mom and I have been hanging out a lot and it has been super fun, the weeks just seem to fly by. We have been working on Emily's nursery, which is close to done. I have attached some photos of it below. I have to admit that I am pretty pround of the dresser/changing table. When I got it, it was so ugly Ryan wouldn't even let me bring it in the house. After a lot of sanding, painting, and some creative use of wooden flowers I think that it is pretty cute.
We still need to put up the wood moulding, but I am hoping that gets done this week.

Emily's nickname it seems is going to be Peanut. I have to admit that it is a nickname that I stole from Shalaco, he always called his girls peanut or pumpkin. I don't know exactly how it happened, but it seems that she is our little peanut. Maybe it is the way that she curls up on your chest when she sleeps. Her alternate nickname, given to her by Ryan, is squeakers because she is a super squeaky sleeper.

In other news, I am going to attempt to make Emily's first Halloween costume. She is going to be a little brown mouse. I couldn't find grey faux fur, so I used brown instead. When I told Ryan, he said "she'll be a vole, not a mouse." Voles are the varmints that eat my plants and burrow under my grass. They are super annoying, but unfortunately they are just too cute to kill (that is why we poison their holes, so we don't actually have to see them die). It makes the neighbor's cat a little bit sad though, it frequently gets sick from eating poisoned voles.

The photo below is of Emily and Ryan playing video games. Ryan decided that "squeakers" wanted to play WOW with him, so he let her listen to the music, while he pushed the buttons. He is a pretty cute dad!
