It's a Girl!

So after much patience exhibited by Tiffany (my friend who did the ultrasounds), we found out that we are having a girl! Ryan and I are both very excited. Emily is excited about everything, so I can't accurately judge her reaction, something tells me #2 will be her best friend and worst enemy, depending on the moment. Now the fun part (decorating the nursery, picking names, buying clothes) can begin. We decided to turn our office into the nursery and move the office into the loft. I decided that I want to keep the blue, green, white color scheme so I am going to attempt to make the bedding for the crib. It is a pretty popular color scheme right now, so I am excited to see what fabrics I can come up with. I think I want it to be more modern and I think I recall a very bold green and white fleur de lis pattern at Joanne's that would be fantastic for the bumpers. Wish me luck! Right now I have no idea on the name. We agreed to Emily's name in about 20 minutes, I think this one will take much longer. I can't even decide what name I like let alone getting concurrence from Ry.

Oh and I did get a copy of New Moon, thanks to all the willing lenders! I get to start it tonight, hopefully it will last a few days, but something tells me I will be looking for book 3 before long.

New Moon?

I was at the bookstore Monday and finally decided to take the plunge and read Twlight. I try not to buy books very often, because I have a bad habit of reading them in just a few hours. I thought that Twlight would last a while because it looked pretty thick...It is now Wednesday and I need New Moon. Does anyone have a copy that they would mind lending me for a few days?

In other news, I think that I might jump off of a cliff if Emily's two top teeth don't come in soon. It has been over a month and she is getting more irritable by the day. Today she woke up grumpy and stayed that way. Fortunately she has been sleeping for the past 2 hours, while I finished my book. I am not sure what is in store for me for the rest of the day, but I am hoping for a happy baby for a few hours.

Wheeler Farm

So below are some scrapbook pages from Ryan's awesome company party last Friday night, I got some fantastic photos of Ry and Em, but I haven't scrapped them yet. The video is of Emily playing with her popper and also of her rocking out to the band at the party (she LOVED the band). Remind me not to take sideways video, sorry. The video is sort of lame, but grandparents assure me they like seeing Emilyin her natural habitat.

Football is Almost Back!

I love college football. I love the fall weather, I love cheering, I love waking up and watching College Game Day (even if the touching stories often make me cry), I love sitting in my pajama bottoms and SC shirt for most of the day while watching parts of every televised game, I love eating football game junk food, I love listening to football debates on sports radio, I love reading football stories by TJ Simers and Bill Plashke in the LA Times, I love watching UCLA loose and USC win, I love it all. I miss spending the whole day on USC campus waiting for the game to start, I miss watching Carson Palmer throw to Mike Williams (or Lineart to Bush), I miss Norm Chow (traitor), I miss buying carmel apples in the downtown market before the game, I miss the roaring of the crowd, I miss sprinting to the student section so we could sit as close as possible to the 50 yard line, I miss spending the day with close friends united in a cause.

Today was the first installment of College Game Day. It was excellent, even if Lou Holtz was smoking crack for most of the show (seriously Notre Dame winning 10 games, it will take more than a cupcake schedule to accomplish that feat, was he paying attention last year?). I got so excited for football next weekend.

This year Ryan has decided to become a BYU fan (secondary to USC of course). We tried to determine the rules of the fanhood e.g., when USC and BYU play at the same time you have to watch USC, when BYU plays a Pac 10 school you may or may not root for BYU depending on the school (Oregon Schools you root for, Cal schools you don't, Arizona and Washington schools are still undetermined), jerseys may not be purchased or worn but I think T-shirts are ok. We will see how it goes. I am cheering for BYU with a half heart for now. Sorry BYU fans I still think it is sort of funny when you loose, mostly because I can't handle listening to the fans that call into talk shows to discuss what happens when BYU goes to the national championship (beat someone real, then we will talk).

There was a major process involved in determining fanhood (it was about logic not love, that is how you can tell we are not real fans). The process involved ranking the U and BYU on colors, fight song, tradition, mascots... BYU was the clear winner. It helps that many of Ryan's friends are BYU fans and part of being a fan is about friendships formed while watching the game. We may even venture down to Provo to see a game or two. I love the whole stadium experience, but I am not sure I can deal with some of the weird things they do. I realize this is more evidence I am not a real fan. I love the Trojan weirdness and totally look down on the BYU weirdness.

For all you Buckeye fans out there (Amy and Dave), we love you but we don't like your team. Hopefully the team that has done so well in the last two national championships shows up at the Coliseum, but I am predicting an epic battle. Hopefully with the Trojans pounding the useless nuts.

Ok I think that I have it out of my system for now. I don't guarantee this will be the last you hear about football in the coming months.

Talking on the Phone

Emily is does so many funny things. Recently she started to "talk on the phone." Mostly she yells very adamantly at whatever object she has picked up and put to her ear. After watching her I am somewhat concerned about my phone habits. Here is some video.

This scrapbook page is devoted to the bed head phenomon. I put down a well groomed grumpy baby and get a happy little pixie with wild hair when she wakes up.

More Scrapping

Here are a couple more pages I have been working on. Hopefully I will be done with Em's first year book soon.

Last night Emily was super tired and just sat in my lap and cuddled for two hours. It was a new record and fun to have a cuddly baby. She normally is so busy she doesn't have time for mom and dad.

Back Again

So I HATE to do things if I feel like I have to. Things that were fun become drudgery. I started to feel that way about blogging and scrapbooking (gasp), so I took a little vacation. Then yesterday I read a friend's blog that was hilarious and reminded me why I do this. It isn't to prove that my family is cuter than everyone else's (which I didn't really think), it is to document the fun, funny, and adorable things Nem does for people that don't live close and so that I will always remember this time in my life. It really is the best time of my whole life. I am happier than I have ever been. Not everything is perfect, but some days it feels pretty close. Emily has been adorable lately she has so much personality. This morning she was walking around with her hands behind her back, she looked so grown up, I couldn't help but laugh. She loves it when I tickle her, especially when I tickle her with my hair. She is generally so cooperative, she eats well, sleeps well, and is usually pretty fun to be with.

The other night we went in for an early ultrasound to check the gender of baby #2. I have a feeling baby #2 is not going to be as easy going as Emily. When we went in for Emily's sex check it took about 2 minutes and the ultrasound tech was SURE it was a girl. Baby #2 however has been less than cooperative. First, I went to see Mary the neighborhood witch doctor (not really) who looks in your eyes and can tell you the gender of your baby, she has only been wrong twice. She looked and concluded that she could not tell. Then we went for the scientific method at the doctors office, after about 40 minutes she was 50% sure it was a boy and 50% sure it was a girl...foiled again. Fortunately the ultrasound tech at my doctors office is a friend and she told me to come back next week. I have a feeling this is a hint of things to come!

Below are a few pages from Emily's birthday, which I seriously neglected. Oh well, the good news is she didn't notice. I have a feeling this will not be the last sacrifice she will make for her little brother/sister. Also there is a page from her first week home. Hopefully I will get her book done soon and get it printed.
