Much Better

Emily finally seems to be fully recovered, with the exception of the mouth full of teeth she has coming in. Every time I look into her mouth it seems there are more little white teeth poking through her gums.

Emily LOVES my mom's dog Scooter. The two of them play together really well. Scooter seems to know that his life is on the line when it comes to Em, so he puts up with A LOT. Last week Ryan and I both had the day off on Friday so we went to breakfast. While we were waiting at IHOP Emily discovered the stuffed animals placed conveniently within the grasp of a toddler by evil marketing geniuses. Anyway, after serious consideration she settled on a little beanie dog, which me being the strong willed parent that I am totally caved to and bought for her. We were talking about her dog and I said "dog, like Scooter." After that she started calling the dog by patting her leg like she does when she wants Scooter to come. She also started to tell the dog "No Bite" and "No Bark" (which both pretty much sound the same). She says it in this very stern "I mean business voice," that I assume she has learned from listening to us. She doesn't make a dog bark noise but instead makes this strange panting noise. She is such a funny girl.

What do I do?

So Emily has been sick for the past 24 hours. I will spare the details, but let's just say it has involved a lot of bathing and laundry. Right now I am feeling like a super big jerk. Emily has had two very short naps today and I think that she needs another because she fell asleep on my shoulder, but woke up as soon as I tried to put her in the crib. So she has been sitting in her crib screaming for the past 1/2 hour and I am trying to decide what to do. The crying has subsided and I think that she might be falling asleep, but I still feel really bad. Yesterday she did this and I held strong. About an hour later she woke up and I discovered what she had been crying about, she had been sick and I made her sleep in it. I pretty much felt like the worst mom in the world.

She has been doing this thing every few nights where she wakes up in the middle of the night crying. When I go in she just wants to be held. I know that it is a bad habit and I should let her cry it out, but I feel so bad. She has 4 teeth coming in and has been miserable. Sometimes being a parent sucks because you don't know if you are doing the right thing or just torturing your cute baby. The crying has not stopped so I think that I am going to rescue my sick and sad baby.

Christmas Preview and other Misc. Thoughts

So this weekend Old Navy was having a big sale and I finally bought the dress that I have been eyeing for Emily for Christmas. I couldn't wait for Christmas though, so here is a picture from Sunday. Note the lovely drool marks, she has been teething again and hasn't stopped drooling for days. It looks like she has 4 teeth all coming in at the same time, ouch! She has been pretty good natured about it, but last night was clearly not happy with the world.

Yesterday I also went to the doctor and was told that I do not have gestational diabetes. I am not sure if this is good or bad news. The first time I was diagnosed I was devastated. I felt so guilty and sad, but what I didn't realize is that it was so good for me. I went on the diet they gave me and I felt about a million times better. This time I have been trying to eat the same as I did the first time, but it is much easier to sneak in a few treats here and there. I only have about 12 weeks left, it is going by SOOOO fast this time. I am not sure what we are going to do with two kids, but I guess we will figure it out.

I have been working on the new nursery a little, I haven't made as much progress as I would like, but I did get some of my vinyl butterflies put up around the room. They make it look much more girly and I LOVE them. Best of all my mom and I made them with her vinyl cutter so I didn't have to spend $70 at pottery barn. Next steps involve moving the office into the loft (yuck too much organizing), setting up the super cute crib we bought, and making the bedding (it seemed like a good idea at the time, now it just seems like a lot of work).

In other Emily news, she continues to become more and more "helpful" here are photos of her rearranging the bookshelf in the office (told you I need to organize) and helping me to unload the dishwasher. I can't believe how big she is getting. Probably her favorite activity is helping me with the laundry. As I am sorting clothes into piles she moves right along with me grunting and throwing clothes all over the place. When I move clothes from the washer to the dryer, she is very helpful in taking the wet clothes in the dryer and throwing them on the floor. Although she seems to be getting better, the other day she took all of the clothes from the dryer, one by one and handed them to me so I could fold them. I love this little girl so much.

Halloween was tons of fun. Today my wonderful husband watched Em for a few hours so I could do some scrapping. There are a million stories I need to document, but this is all I have time for today.
